Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is the most baffling of mental health problems - the contradiction of mania and depression, the mystery of what sets off mood episodes and the difficulty treating those usually very high functioning people desperate to get better.

Bipolar disorder is one of the commonest reasons for admission to Psychiatric clinics, and hopefully this occurs while symptoms are still mild enough for the person to agree to be in hospital, but sadly often families and even the authorities have to intervene to avert a disaster, with all sorts of collateral problems.

I am involved in ongoing research to understand better how to diagnose and manage Bipolar Disorder in its various forms, and have written widely about it’s mysteries.
